Teaching Materials for “Integrated Chinese” by T. Yao and Y. Liu (2005, 1997)

I created these teaching materials when I worked as a Chinese instructor for my Teaching Assistantship during 2001~ 2003. At MSU, Chinese 101 and 102 both have 5 credit hours each week and are team-taught courses so I didn’t create all the materials for each lesson. The materials created by others are not included here. Some of the games are inspired by the teaching materials in the official site of "Integrated Chinese". Most activities are self-explanatory. Please refer to the lesson plan for more instruction about the activities. (L1-2 = Lesson1, Dialogue2.)

Chinese Seal Dancing Beijing

2008 Olympic Promotional Film - focus on the Chinese seal. Gives cultural reference to how a seal is used in China and throughout the world. The later 4 minutes focus more on Olympics, beginning 4 minutes is highly cultural and motivating! I wish the quality is better, I'll look for better ones later

Oakley's Asian Fit Sunglasses

Never knew this concept! But, I think this may be something interesting to show students. Biological facial differences between European and Asian.

What is Asian Fit?

Getting the right fit is essential for comfort, protection, and even optical performance. You may have heard industry terms like “European Fit” and “Asian Fit”. If sunglasses tend to sit too low on your face or slide down your nose, touch at your temples or cheeks, or feel narrow at the sides of your head, try our Asian Fit.

Chinese History

Great for overall information on China. Lots of pictures and time lines. I think this would be wonderful for Grades 5-10 (need more in-depth information for higher levels).
